HuM Theatre presents Being Mrs. Gandhi
, a play about a “simple” woman who is sucked into the maelstrom of political history by virtue of being married to its famous protagonist, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
While the world is familiar with Gandhi, they are less so with Kasturba, his wife. Her life was woven into his tapestry spanning years, from Rajkot to Johannesburg to India, from ashram to ashram, from jail to jail, from suppression to freedom. This play traces her steps out of the shadow of child marriage, illiteracy and casteism to take on her man and his mission.
